Job description
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Design System Specialist to enhance, maintain, and scale our evolving design system while ensuring seamless collaboration between design and development.
You will play a key role in managing design tokens, refining UI components, and maintaining consistency across multiple products. Collaborating closely with product managers, developers, and designers, you will ensure our design system is scalable, efficient, and easy to adopt.
Key Responsibilities:
Design System Development & Maintenance
Develop, maintain, and expand the design system to support multiple products.
Ensure design consistency by aligning UI components, patterns, and styles with frontend implementation.
Continuously improve and update the design system based on product needs, user feedback, and industry trends.
Create and maintain clear documentation to facilitate adoption and best practices.
Manage and optimize design tokens for scalability and theming across products.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with product designers and developers to ensure accurate and efficient design implementation.
Collaborate with product managers to align design system improvements with business goals.
Present design system solutions and rationale to stakeholders and advocate for best practices.
Mentorship & Leadership
Mentor junior designers in design system best practices.
Foster a culture of design excellence and user-centered design within the team.
Job requirements
What We’re Looking For:
Experience & Technical Skills:
3-5 years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on design systems.
Expertise in Figma, particularly in managing design tokens (via Figma Variables or other design token management tools).
Solid understanding of CSS fundamentals and component-based styling.
Familiarity with Storybook (or similar tools) for documenting and maintaining UI components.
Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of design token automation tools (e.g., Style Dictionary, Tailwind CSS) is a plus.
Soft Skills
Strong ability to communicate design principles to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-solving mindset with great attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
